SUMMARY OF  FACTS:

Jockey Lisa Allpress admitted a charge of careless riding in that she directed her mount MIDNIGHT SWEY outwards near the 1200 metre mark making contact with ALBUFEIRA Rider R Elliot which was forced outwards onto PRISMATIC Rider J Kamaruddin.

EVIDENCE:

Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin assisted by Stipendiary Steward Mr Coppins showed the available films of the incident. He pointed out that Jockey Ryan Elliot Rider of ALBUFEIRA angled his mount onto MIDNIGHT SWEY forcing that horse off her rightful line. He informed the Adjudicative Committee that Mr Elliot is to be charged and the hearing to be held at a later date. Mrs Allpress then angled her mount back onto her original line causing contact to be made to PRISMATIC forcing that horse off its rightful line.

Mrs Allpress had no comment except to say the films clearly showed the incident.

REASONS FOR DECISION:

As the charge was admitted it was deemed proved.

SUBMISSIONS ON PENALTY:

Mr Goodwin indicated that he believed the incident to be classed as midrange. He felt there may have been a little tit for tat in Mrs Allpress’ actions. He pointed out her impressive riding record under this Rule. The last charge being on 7/3/2021 at Auckland. Mrs Allpress informed the Adjudicative Committee that she felt her record under the Rule should be reflected in the penalty and she was aware of the Penalty Guidelines.

REASONS FOR PENALTY.

The Adjudicative Committee concurred with the Stewards that the incident could be classed as mid range. Contact was made to PRISMATIC causing that horse to be forced off its rightful line however.  Mrs Allpress’ record under this Rule is excellent and  must be reflected in the penalty. She had also made a trip to Hastings after being injured which precluded her from riding at the meeting.

CONCLUSIONS:

Jockey Lisa Allpress is suspended from race riding for 4 race days beginning after the completion of racing today 27/1/2022 until the completion of racing on 5/2/2022.
