Penalty: Jockey Darryl Bradley is fined $500

FACTS:

Mr Bradley the Rider of “THE SEAGULL” admitted a breach of Rule 638(3)(g)(i) in that he used his whip excessively prior to the 100m.

Mr Oatham showed film replays and identified where Mr Bradley had struck his mount 8 times prior to reaching the 100m (5 is the limit).

Mr Bradley agreed with the number of strikes applied.

DECISION:

As the charge was admitted it was found proved.

PENALTY SUBMISSIONS:

Mr Oatham said that Mr Bradley had a good record under this section of Rule 638(3)(g).

Mr Bradley did not wish to comment.

REASONS FOR PENALTY:

The Penalty Guide has a starting point of a fine of $500 and as there was no reason to depart from this, a fine of $500 was an appropriate penalty.

CONCLUSION:

Mr D Bradley was fined $500.
