EVIDENCE:
Following the running of Race 8 (Nufarm), Information A14567 was filed with the Adjudicative Committee. It was alleged that Mr Parkes allowed his mount OUR FAIR TRADE to shift inwards in the home straight when not clear of HARD TIMES and JENEVER which were tightened.
Mr Parkes said that he understood the Rule, Charge and confirmed that he admitted the breach.
Mr Williamson showed film replays identifying the horses involved and pointed out where the interference took place. He said that although Mr Parkes allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear, the inside runners were shifting about.
Mr Parkes said that he did shift in a little, but that the inside horses drifted away.
REASON FOR DECISION:
As the charge was admitted it was deemed proved.
SUBMISSION FOR PENALTY:
Mr Goodwin said that Mr Parkes had only one breach of careless riding in the last 12 months. He placed the careless riding on this occasion to be in the low-range area.
Mr Parkes also believed it was low-range carelessness.
REASON FOR PENALTY:
Taking all relevant matters into consideration regarding penalty, namely record, low degree of carelessness and the admitted breach, it was determined that a suitable sanction was a 4-Riding Day Suspension and a Fine.
CONCLUSIONS:
Mr Parkes Jockey’s Licence was suspended from the end of racing on 15 July up to and including racing on 22 July 2021 and a $200 fine was imposed.
