Penalty: Jockey Kylie Williams is fined $300

EVIDENCE:

Ms Algar alleged that Ms Williams used her whip in consecutive strides when riding HUMBUCKER.

SUBMISSIONS:

Ms Algar demonstrated on the film that Ms Williams struck the horse in two consecutive strides just before the winning post.

Ms Williams explained she had dropped the reins earlier in the run home and had got a little panicky. She admitted the breach and was remorseful.

DECISION:

As the charge was admitted, it was deemed proved.

SUBMISSIONS FOR PENALTY:

Ms Algar produced Ms Williams’ record which showed a previous breach of this Rule at Winton earlier this month.

REASONS FOR PENALTY

The NZTR Whip Guidelines provide for a penalty of half the Jockey’s share of the stake or a $300 fine, whichever is the greater.

CONCLUSIONS:

Ms Williams is fined the sum of $300.
