FACTS
Ms T Davies in the company of Ms K Clapperton, admitted a breach of Rule 638(3)(g)(i).
The breach being that she struck her mount ‘KAHU ROCK’ with the whip 6 times prior to the 100m (5 is the limit).
Ms Davies said that she understood the Rule and the charge.
Film replays confirmed that 6 strikes had been applied prior to reaching the 100m.
Ms Clapperton said that Ms Davies was a little unlucky, as she had almost reached the 100m when the last strike was applied.
DECISION
Due to the charge being admitted, it was found proved.
PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
Mr Goodwin said that within the last six months, Ms Davies had incurred one warning and one fine of $250 for excessive whip use.
REASONS FOR DECISION
The Penalty Guide was discussed, with the starting point penalty of a $500 fine being considered appropriate by the Adjudicative Committee.
CONCLUSION
Ms T Davies was fined $500.
