FACTS:
Jockey J Riddell admitted a breach of Rule 638(3)(g)(i) in that he struck his mount with the whip 6 times prior to the 100 metre mark.
EVIDENCE:
The films of the incident were shown and the number of strikes prior to the 100 metre mark counted and confirmed.
Stipendiary Steward K Coppins stated the first strike with the whip was on the point of the bend with a gap to to the others.
Jockey J Riddell had no comment.
SUBMISSIONS ON PENALTY:
Stipendiary Steward K Coppins stated that this was Jockey J Riddell’s second breach of the Rule, the last being at Avondale on 25/5/022.
He stated that he was a little unlucky as he was only 10 days away from a reset.
Jockey J Riddell asked if any concession, because of his record, could be considered . This was rejected by the Adjudicative Committee.
REASON FOR PENALTY:
The Rule was clearly breached.
CONCLUSION:
A fine of $250 was imposed.
