Outcome: Proved

Penalty: Class A Rider Kylie Williams is suspended for 5 days

Mr Davidson alleged that Ms Williams rode carelessly in Race 4, in that she allowed her mount INTERCEPT to shift inwards when not fully clear of CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS, which was crowded and checked near the 50 metres.

Mr Munro demonstrated on the videos that there was a gap for CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS between INTERCEPT and SAILOR GIRL, as the horses ran to the winning post. Ms Williams was still striking her horse as she shifted in towards SAILOR GIRL. She was not fully clear of CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS, which was crowded and had to be checked. INTERCEPT had rolled in a little bit, but Ms Williams had let the horse drift in.

Ms Williams accepted she was still using the stick as INTERCEPT shifted in. She was unaware that CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS was making a run to her inside.

Decision

As Ms Williams has admitted the breach, it is found to be proved.

Submissions as to Penalty

Mr Davidson produced the Respondent’s record, which showed 2 breaches of this Rule in the past 12 months. Ms Williams has had 400 rides in that time. Mr Davidson described the breach as low to mid-range. Ms Williams had not shifted a lot, but it was enough to hinder CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS and cost it a better placing.

Ms Williams stated she accepted Mr Davidson’s submissions and wished the suspension to start immediately.

Reasons for Penalty

Ms Williams has shifted ground inwards, when not her length and another clear of CLAUDIUS MAXIMUSS and has hindered that horse’s progress. The breach is correctly categorised as low to mid-range. From a 6-day starting point, there is a one-day reduction for admission of the breach and Ms Williams’ record, which is very good considering the fact she is a very busy Rider.

Conclusion

Ms Williams is suspended from the end of racing today, up to and including Sunday 21 December 2025. This is 5 national riding days.
