Outcome: Proved

Penalty: Driver Ross Cameron is suspended for 2 days

EVIDENCE:

Following the running of the Race 3, Stipendiary Steward Mr Craig Lomey presented an Information alleging a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) by Open Driver Mr Ross Cameron.

Mr Cameron stated he was conversant with the Rule, the Charge and confirmed he admitted the breach.

Mr Lomey played the video of the race and had Stipendiary Steward Mr Keith Coppins identify Mr Cameron (HEAVEN FORBID) racing in the 1×1 position following JAKE (K Cameron). He pointed to, at approximately the 250m, Mr Cameron angle out from behind JAKE, striking the wheel, galloping, and losing all chance in the race.

Mr Cameron made no submissions.

DECISION:

The Respondent having admitted the breach, the charge was deemed to be proved.

SUBMISSIONS FOR PENALTY:

Mr Lomey alluded to the Penalty Guidelines and said the breach was low level. Mr Lomey said Mr Cameron’s record is clear.

Mr Cameron made no submissions on Penalty, but asked for a suspension, rather than a fine.

REASONS FOR PENALTY:

The Penalty Guidelines provides a 2-day suspension or a $300 fine starting point for a first breach of the Rule.

The Adjudicative Committee has no objection to Mr Cameron’s request to be suspended, instead of a fine.

Mr Cameron has frankly admitted the breach, has a clear record and the Adjudicative Committee finds a 2-day suspension appropriate in this case.

CONCLUSION:

Open Driver Mr Ross Cameron is suspended from the conclusion of racing today, up to and including racing on 10 August 2025.
