1.  Mr Stewart presented an Information charging Mr Elliot with a breach of Rule 623 in that he rode at the Cambridge Jockey Club Trials on 11 July 2023 when he failed to produce a medical certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.

2. Mr Elliot admitted the charge.

3. The essential facts were that on 5 July 2023, Mr Elliot was scheduled to ride at the Rotorua race meeting but did not attend.  Other Riders were replaced on his mounts on the day. He knew that, in accordance with Rule 623, he was required by a Stipendiary Steward to undergo a medical examination by a Registered Medical Practitioner in order to determine his fitness for riding, and to produce the certificate to a Steward before riding in any race at a race meeting, trial, or trackwork.

4. Mr Elliot rode horses at the Cambridge Trials on 11 July 2023 without producing the required medical certificate.  He said he had simply forgot to bring it with him to the trials.  At 3.26pm, but after the trials meeting had concluded, the certificate was available.

5. Mr Elliot accepted that he breached the Rule of which he was well aware, and acknowledged that he should be fined.

6. Although his actions were based on oversight, a fine is required and Mr Elliot is fined $200.
