Penalty: Jockey Kate Hercock is suspended for 4 days
FACTS:
Jockey Kate Hercock confirmed that she had breached the Careless Riding Rule when shifting inwards on the first bend.
The films of the incident were shown.
EVIDENCE:
Stipendiary Steward N Goodwin pointed out that in coming across on the first bend, Miss Hercock’s mount put undue pressure on Jockey M McNab’s mount GET LIT, causing that horse to be checked. He added that movement from Jockey T Mitchell’s mount REINE D’AMOUR, may have contributed to the incident, as she was coming around quickly looking for the lead.
He indicated that he felt the breach was mid range.
Miss Hercock said her mount did roll in and she pulled off when Jockey M McNab called.
DECISION:
As the charge was admitted, it was deemed proved.
SUBMISSIONS ON PENALTY:
Stipendiary Steward N Goodwin stated that Miss Hercock was a busy Rider and her record under this Rule was good.
She has had 3 charges, these being at Waverley – where a 5 day suspension was imposed, 2/1/23 – 4 days,17/2/23 – 4 days.
He asked for a period of suspension to be imposed.
Miss Hercock had little to add, but asked for a deferment.
REASONS FOR PENALTY:
In coming to its decision to impose a 4 day suspension for the breach, her admittance of the breach and her good record under the Rule, allowed for a reduction of a day from the Guidelines. A deferment was agreed to.
CONCLUSION:
Jockey K Hercock was suspended from race riding after the completion of racing on Wednesday 26/7/23, and ending after completion of racing on Wednesday 2/8/23.
