Following Race 2 Mr M Singh admitted a breach of Careless Riding (Information No.A17360).

The carelessness being that near the 1800m Mr Singh allowed his mount “BEAR GRYLLS” to shift in when not clear tightening “TRUSTWORTHY” (L Hemi) and “GINGER SNAPZ” (K Hercock).

Mr Singh said that he understood the Rule, charge and confirmed that he admitted the breach.

Mr Goodwin showed the film replays, indentified the horses involved and showed where Mr Singh shifted in when not clear of the inside runners, with “TRUSTWORTHY” receiving a relatively severe check.  He said that he did pull off but the damage had been done.

Mr Singh said that “TRUSTWORTHY” over-raced but that he did shift in when not clear (one length only).

DECISION

As the charge was admitted it was deemed proved.

PENALTY SUBMISSIONS

Ms Algar said that Mr Singh had a clear record and placed the carelessness mid-range and added that he went on to win the race.

Mr Singh said that he had rides on 4 January at Otaki.

REASONS FOR PENALTY

The Committee placed the carelessness above mid-range and adopted a starting point of 8-day suspension.

Mr Singh, when going to the lead, shifted in onto “GINGER SNAPZ” when not clear, resulting in that horse shifting in onto “TRUSTWORTHY” whose Rider was in difficulties for some strides when attempting to keep off the heels of “GINGER SNAPZ”.

It was noted that “BEAR GRYLLS” won the race.

Due to the record and admitted breach a one-day discount was afforded.

CONCLUSION

Mr M Singh’s Jockey’s Licence was suspended from end of racing on 4 January to 13 January 2023 inclusive (7 riding days).
