SUMMARY OF FACTS:
Mereana Hudson, Rider of THE BIG BAD WOLF admitted a charge of Careless Riding in that she shifted in near the 800 metre mark when not clear of EREBUS, Kate Hercock, causing that Rider to take hold when checked.
EVIDENCE:
The films of the incident were shown and showed EREBUS losing about 1 to 2 lengths in the incident.
SUBMISSIONS:
Stipendiary Steward Neil Goodwin informed the Adjudicator that Ms Hudson had one similar charge at Hawkes Bay on the 1st of May for which she received a 5 day suspension. He asked for a period of suspension on this charge even though he believed it was a low range breach.
REASON FOR DECISION:
Although the offence was low range Miss Hercock’s mount was inconvenienced in the incident.
SUBMISSION FOR PENALTY:
Ms Hudson had no comment on either the incident or penalty submissions.
REASON FOR PENALTY:
The Guidelines indicate a 5 day suspension for a low range breach.
CONCLUSIONS:
Mereana Hudson’s licence to ride was suspended from the completion of racing Thursday 16th of September until Thursday the 23rd of September 2021.
