Penalty: Jockey Tony Allan is suspended for 5 National Riding Days

Evidence:

Following the running of Race 5, the “Lisa Latta Racing 1300”, Mr Goodwin presented an Information charging Mr T Allan with a breach of the Whip Rule 638(3)(g)(i) in that he struck his mount “PERFECT POSY” 9 times prior to the 100 metre mark.

Mr Allan admitted the charge.

The films depicted that Mr Allan’s mount was in contention and challenging for the lead when in the home straight.  Mr Allan, riding vigorously, struck the horse with his whip 9 times before reaching the 100 metre mark.  “PERFECT POSY” finished third.

Decision:

As the charge was admitted, it was deemed proved.

Submissions for Penalty:

Mr Goodwin advised that Mr Allan had a clear record.  Mr Allan advanced no submissions other than to advise he had no firm riding engagements in the next 7 days.

Reasons for Penalty:

In keeping in line with the Penalty Guide, the Adjudicative Committee deemed it appropriate that a suspension was a suitable sanction on this occasion.

Conclusion:

The Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mr Allan’s Licence to ride for 5 National Riding Days, to commence at the conclusion of racing today, 25 May 2024 and to end at the conclusion of racing on 1 June 2024.
