Request for a Ruling in relation to Rule 534(2)(b)

Following the running of Race 1, Trainer Ms Mahoney sought a Ruling in relation to Rule 534(2)(b). Ms Mahoney had a runner in the first race WITHALLMYHEART,  which she said had not handled the heavy track conditions. Ms Mahoney requested permission to late scratch her remaining runners being, CIMARRON and SHEZ CLASS in Race 4 and SYMPHONY OF LOVE in Race 6, on the grounds that these horses would not handle the very Heavy track conditions.

Stipendiary Steward Adrian Dooley did not support the request. He confirmed that there had been no change in the declared track conditions (Heavy 10), since the time of scratchings at 7.30am.

Ms Mahoney said her horse WITHALLMYHEART, could not go an inch in the ground and returned to scales with badly bloodshot eyes. The Jockey Jonathan Riddell, told her that the conditions were a nightmare. Also, Jockey Michael McNab had told her that SHEZ CLASS would not go in the track. Ms Mahoney pointed out that all her runners were drawn out, and would be going back in the running and would be getting a lot of kick back.

Ruling

The circumstances did not warrant scratching after the scratching time of 7.30am this morning, as there had been no change in the declared track conditions of a Heavy 10.
