Otago RC 5 September 2025 – R7 – Gosen Jogoo

Miss Haley alleged that Class A Jockey Mr Jogoo allowed his mount QUEEN OF KINGS in Race 7, to shift outwards when not fully clear of ORSOME DUDE, which was crowded and steadied near the 200 metres.

Mr Davidson demonstrated on the videos, that Mr Jogoo was riding out his mount near the 200 metre mark of Race 7, when he shifted outwards when not clear and into the line of Mr Muniandy, who had to take a strong hold of ORSOME DUDE and check his mount. Miss Haley demonstrated on the side-on video, that Mr Jogoo was not his length and another clear.

Mr Jogoo accepted he had shifted ground. He said it happened fast. He had looked and it was ok to move. ORSOME DUDE had made up ground fast, after he looked. There had been no yelling.

Decision 

As Mr Jogoo has admitted the breach, it is found to be proved.

Submissions as to Penalty

Miss Haley stated that the Respondent’s record was very good, with no breaches of this Rule in the past 12 months. She submitted that a 5-day starting point was appropriate.

Mr Jogoo stated he accepted Miss Haley’s submissions and wished the suspension to start after racing at Riccarton on 11 September. The Stewards had no objection to this.

Reasons for Penalty

Mr Jogoo has shifted ground outwards when not his length and another clear of Mr Muniandy, who has had to check his mount. Mr Jogoo looked and was unaware that ORSOME DUDE had made up ground quickly.

From a 5-day starting point, there is a one-day reduction for admission of the breach and Mr Jogoo’s excellent record.

Conclusion

Class A Jockey Mr Jogoo is suspended from the end of racing on 11 September, up to and including 17 September 2025. This is 4 national days.
