FACTS

Mr J Riddell, Rider of ‘CHARLIE CHUCKLE’ admitted a breach of Careless Riding.

The careless riding being that near the 350m, he allowed his mount to shift outwards hampering ‘GIA MARQUESA’ (Information A17407).

Mr Riddell confirmed that he understood the Rule, charge and that he admitted the breach.

Mr Goodwin showed film replays and said that Mr Riddell shifted out for a run when not sufficiently clear of ‘GIA MARQUESA’ ,resulting in that runner being hampered.

Mr Riddell said that he looked, thought he had enough room, but was not quite clear.

DECISION

As the charge was admitted, it was found proved.

PENALTY SUBMISSIONS

Mr Goodwin said that in the last 12 months, Mr Riddell had had 429 rides with only two careless riding suspensions.  He placed the breach to be in the low-range.

Mr Riddell said that it was minor.

REASONS FOR PENALTY

The Adjudicative Committee took into account that the breach was at the low-end of the scale, the record and the admitted breach and afforded a one day discount from the starting point of 5-days suspension.

CONCLUSION

Mr Riddell’s Jockey’s Licence was suspended from close of racing on 23 April to 28 April inclusive (4-riding days).  The days being Avondale, Hawera, Timaru, Rotorua.
