FACTS:
Class D Rider Mr B Donoghue admitted a charge of Careless Riding in that with 1450m to travel, he allowed his mount “TE ATATU MEMPHIS” to shift in when insufficiently clear. As a consequence “PACHECO” AND “CASHEL” were crowded and checked.
Mr Donoghue said that he understood the Rule, charge and confirmed that he admitted the breach.
Film replays were shown with Mr Jones identifying all horses and the interference.
Mr Donoghue said that he went in for one stride only and that he pulled off. He said that his mount dug in.
DECISION:
As the charge was admitted it was found proved.
PENALTY SUBMISSIONS:
Mr Jones said that Mr Donoghue had a clear record and placed the carelessness in the low-range.
Mr Donoghue said that he wanted to ride at Te Rapa on 7 May.
REASONS FOR PENALTY:
Whilst two horses suffered interference, Mr Donoghue’s mount only shifted inwards a minimal amount of ground. This, in the Adjudicative Committee’s opinion, placed his carelessness in the low-range category.
CONCLUSION:
Mr Donoghue’s Jockey’s Licence was suspended from end of racing on 7 May through to 12 May 2022 (1 Day).
Penalty issued under New Guidelines for Class D Jockeys which came into effect on 26 April 2022:
