Outcome: Protest Upheld
Penalty: Horse Number 16 ( MENTALIST) is disqualified from Race 3.
EVIDENCE:
The Information alleged that MENTALIST, placed 4th by the Judge, had broke in excess of 50 metres in the run home.
Mr Ydgren showed the video of the last 300 metres of the race. It clearly showed Mr O’Reilly (MENTALIST) galloping well before the 200 metre pole and continued to gallop the entire length of the straight finishing in fourth place. Mr Ydgren sought disqualification of MENTALIST as it had galloped in excess of 50 metres within the last 200 metres as per the Galloping Horse Regulations.
REASON FOR DECISION:
The Committee was satisfied that MENTALIST had galloped for more than 50 metres within the last 200 metres.
CONCLUSIONS:
The Protest was upheld and MENTALIST was disqualified from Race 3.
The amended result is :

3rd 1 AWESOME IMPEE
4th 9 MEGHAN
5th 8 ROSSCO TROUBLE
It was ordered that stakes and dividends be paid in accordance with the amended result.
