The charge of failing to make the correct weight to ride WHANGAEHU in Race 6 was admitted by Jockey Sam O’Malley.
SUBMISSIONS FOR PENALTY:
It was Jockey Sam O’Malley’s 3rd breach of the Rule .He was fined $100 on 20/9/2021 and $200 on 27/12/2021. Mr Goodwin asked for a fine to be imposed as per the Guidelines. Mr O’Malley, while agreeing with the submission, wondered if a period of suspension could be imposed instead. This was rejected by the Adjudicative Committee.
REASONS FOR PENALTY:
In keeping in line with the Penalty Guide, the Adjudicative Committee agreed that a fine was the appropriate penalty in this case.
CONCLUSION:
Jockey Sam O’Malley is fined $250.
