Request for a Ruling in relation to Rule 534(2)(b)

Ms Jamie-Lee Lupton, Trainer of LOST CAUSE in Race 7, approached the Stewards to request permission to late scratch that runner. The request was denied and Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin sought a Ruling from the Adjudicative Committee in relation to Rule 534(2)(b).

Ms Lupton explained that although she lived only 30 minutes away from Wanganui, the track was not what she expected it to be. She brought two horses to the races and following AQUILA STAR’S run in Race 2, she realised the sticky nature of the track would not suit her other runner in Race 7. If she raced LOST CAUSE on the current track, she said she “wouldn’t have much of a horse left”.

As there was no material change in track conditions, Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin did not support the request.  He confirmed that there had been no change in the declared track conditions since the time of scratchings at 7.30am.

Ruling

The Adjudicative Committee determined that circumstances did not warrant scratching after the scratching time of 7.30am this morning, as there had been no change in the declared track conditions.
